I have noticed big falls when Fast macd enters -ve zone.
Slow macd lags but it confirms such a downtrend. It becomes difficult for bulls to reverse the trend, though not impossible.
Macd readings throws up many interesting scenarios:
Negative divergences at the top/ bottom.
Macd below trigger but the scrip making new uptrend highs would be topping in ST.
Macd trending below the trigger in +ve territory provides for "sell on rises".
Macd entering -ve territory suggests of holding on to shorts.
And the opposite is true when the index/ scrip attempts to reverse...
Individual scrips will behave differently depending on their volatilty(Beta) & volume.

thanks for enlightening on MACD. what i have noted is that you rely very much on S.MACD for confirmation of a divergence. so we may draw a working conclusion that MACD should be consulted for a confident trade.
however, yesterday's +ve divergence has not been quite effective, neither it has been ineffective, market is in a limbo. so i understand that even after confirmation, divergence should be studied in right context.
please, educate and thanks for your time and expercise.

Master has given the last points as 5040 and 5060. I think max. pain point is 5040. It may be taken for contest.
As the up move from 4770 took 27days, and the correction is just 12days old...a time correction maybe on. As per EW we may have made a ST bottom at 5077 or at 5042-50 region..hence I feel closing to be around 200SMA ie: 5099.
My Nifty Expiry Guess: 5119 - 61.8% retracement of recent fall (5144 -> 5077)

an interesting observation - the NIFTY settlement is generally in the opposite direction to the consensus :) ...I looked at majority expecting an above 5100 close, looked at JNSAR , 5EMA...and took the opposite call
