Why doesn't God listen to me?

My critic was chiding me for my enthusiasm displayed at the success in the blog, saying,"what about the traders having losses. Aren't you responsible for them". I said," Responsibility lies with the individual. It is their choice of faith and blind following that brings success to them and I have no role in it. Most here are intelligent enough but often their own intelligence is their enemy.
There is a time to plan using your intelligence and
there is a time to sit tight, having faith.
If they themselves do not have faith in their own plans, Who else will?....The Faith that God favours".
One night a house caught fire and a young boy was forced to flee to the roof. The father stood on the ground below with outstretched arms, calling to his son,"Jump! I’ll catch you." He knew the boy had to jump to save his life. All the boy could see, however, was flame, smoke, and blackness. As can be imagined, he was afraid to leave the roof.

His father kept yelling: "Jump! I will catch you." But the boy protested, "Daddy, I can’t seeyou." The father replied, "But I can see you and that’s all that matters."

In another Story:
A drought continued for what seemed an eternity, a small community of farmers was in a quandary as to what to do. Rain was vital to keep their crops healthy and sustain the way of life of the townspeople. As the problem became more acute, a local priest called a prayer meeting to ask for rain.
Many concerned people arrived at the church and the priest greeted most of them as they filed in. As he walked to the front of the church to officially begin the meeting, he noticed the people were chatting across the aisles about their mutual situation and socializing with friends. When he reached the front, his thoughts were on quieting the attendees and getting the meeting started.
His eyes scanned the crowd as he asked for quiet and it was then that he noticed a young girl about 11 years old sitting quietly in the front row, her face beaming with excitement. Next to her, poised and ready for use, was a bright red umbrella. The little girl's beauty and innocence made the priest smile as he realized how much faith she possessed.
No one else in the congregation had brought an umbrella. All came to pray for rain, but the little girl had come expecting God to answer.
Unlike the young girl in this story, some of us pray but do not expect an answer, because from our stand point the outlook is hopeless and grim. We fall prey to doubt and fear when things change and corrupt our serenity. Nothing will help, we think, so we slump into depression.
Why doesn't God listen to me?
And it is then that Satan steps in and whispers, "See, your God is not helping you." And so, we think God does not hear us or will not help us. What we forget is that God is listening and perhaps has something else in mind for us.
The ropes that bind and make us useless to act or make viable decisions are not so strong that our Lord cannot set us free if it is His Will.
There is no human relationship that is too strained or torn that God cannot repair,
There is no habit so deep-seated that it cannot be overcome.
God sometimes takes us to a point of crisis so we can understand how great and loving He is.
The reality is that the trials we face are burdens we must carry to strengthen our faith, and even though we wring our hands in misery we must know that our prayers are being heard, and if what we ask for is right or good for us, He will give us the desires of our hearts.
If He says "NO", it may mean we must wait, knowing He has a greater plan for our lives.

"Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see”.

"Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” -Martin Luther King Jr.

“Faith does not operate in the realm of the possible. There is no glory for God in that which is humanly possible. Faith begins where man’s power ends” - George Muller.

Thank you, Dinesh Rishi for the "Clap, clap, clap...Faith" prompt.
And Jayaraman, Have faith and wait. Give it a gap by stepping back. Your time will come but you must wait patiently. Remember always that simplicity has tremendous truth in it which most people find it unattractive and hence miss it. I'm a firm believer of "elementary knowledge is just enough and the rest is just work..work & work".Our prayers and blessings and Best wishes for your re-emergence.
Get Back Slowly and Quietly.

Thanks is a small word for expressing our gratitude towards your untiring efforts to motivate us.

@Jayaramanji,

Pls do not get discouraged by the losses. You are more knowledgeable than me but still I wish to give a small suggestion. Till you make sufficient money to venture your EW analysis, you can try with and make money by adopting JNSAR. Once you make some money then you can again venture your analysis. Pls do no get offended that I am advising. You are a good soul and you should come back to trading.

Namaste ilango Sir,

Many many thanks for the write up about faith.

Really touching and teaching stories too much to keep faith in our ownself and that Almighty.

@ parminder,
Why should we wish to see God. All the elements whether seen or unseen are the manifestation of that Almighty. You see/realize/experience any one of them...whether it is with form or formless....is it not God..???

Yes, only FAITH must be there to realize this.

Bro Jayaraman

Its the wisest decision you have taken

"Quit"

As you have taken this decision I would say you are not loser but you are a winner.

Its not only your story, its everybody's story, a friend of mine 3-4 years back he use to do aggressive dibba trading, where the profit & loss settlement is done after one week ie on Friday, he lost his house to clear his losses.

But I am sure its not your condition, as your are well matured with good educational qualification.

I always recommend my friends never ever think of recovering the losses from stock market it will add on more losses. Forget you previous losses.

But as you still have interest in stock market and want to try your luck once more,

As you said

“In view of my failure I will not be posting my Trade Plan here after and as and when I enter the market and start making money I will continue the work.”

I would like to make clear here

Paper trading wont help you

Its the only when real money is involved, actual fear and greed attacks the trader.

I would like to suggest you

Start trading Mini Nifty Future

1. Trade only Long trades

2. At any given time there should be only one open position in your terminal.

3. Trade only and only one nifty (No second Lot, Let Finance Minister tell you to add one more never add it) always keep in mind while trading one mini nifty you have purchased equity of Rs. 25X5000 (NF Value) i.e Rs. 125000/-
4. To trade one Min Nifty as you are betting for Rs. 125000/- you should have Rs. 50000/- in your account to be in the game.

5. If you can make 100 points in a month its equal to 25X100 = 2500/- pm on an investment of Rs.50000/-

Take long trade only when JNSAR hits
long with proper SL of 20 points.

If stopped out wait for next long to trigger.

Try this for some time and lets see how u make loss

@Ilango Sir,

Thank you for your valuable guidance and reinforcing my faith. Surely I will work quietly and slowly to crawl back to normalcy. A good soul like you are praying for my welfare is a moving moment for me and I am grateful for your blessings and wishes.

Sir, thanks once again for all your inputs and enriching my knowledge and making me rich in my knowledge about market. Once monetary success is achieved with the blessings of God and good number of my blog mates I would like to return the love and affection showered on me by my gesture. In fact I was thinking about having a get together on Teachers Day along with you so that a interactive session can be planned for technical. Since I have failed I request somebody else to take this idea forward with the blessing of Ilango Sir.

I pray to Almighty to wish me best of everything for days to come so that I am able to stand by my word.

gauresh59 said...

Dear Jayaraman,

One more thing to add in along with DR sir's advices, you keep only the requisite funds i.e. margin amount + some more funds for M2M with the broker's Account.
Mini nifty requires about 12K margin. On lump sum basis you keep 20k in broker's Account and keep safe other 30K in your saving's Account ready.

As and when your broker's account raises by adding profits, you transfer the earned money to your saving's account. Never keep it with broker's Account otherwise you may be tempted to bet for more quantity in trading. Just keep this disciplinary rule in mind.....

Yes, never go for option trading ....it may wipe out your 50K capital within a blink of eyes....

Dinesh Rishi said...

I agree with you.

This is called money management, may be looking simple but very effective.

Its not for Jayaraman everybody should follow this.

Brokers main motive is to break your
capital in small pieces and consume it as early as possible before stock market takes it.

Broker is not bothered with your profit or loss
his bread and butter is brokerage so before mkt takes your capital he will make all effort to grab it as early as possible.

One of my friend working in Brokerage firm told
me that EOD his boss checks the ideal cash in account of traders and next day its their task to
make clients take position or they will be on task.

If any cash is lying ideal it means they are not
performing their duty properly.

Since four years i am struggling to live as day trader. when i saw first principally i realized Indian unemployed youth with small investment can make decent legal living. i started searching for a plan. believed every body and tried and lost. almost when i lost hope i saw ramki's book. hopes raised. but found it is difficult way for daily bread. from there it happened ILLANGO Sir's blog. i studied and found hope again. by this time my nerves already tortured. but my brain get activated more. starting to see every possibility and found not worth it. my aim is daily 500-1000 rupees earning. even i fail i does not want to quit. because the variety of chances available in trading. may be i am unlucky i am choosing the variety which does not suit me. i know all beings are intelligent on earth. lucky ones are chosen the variety which suits them. we are failing because our method of trading is not matched to our characteristics. as i observed Illango Sir uses wisdom & experience. at present i am trying DR Ji's low investment strategy. Jayaraman Ji let us find the strategy each one of us who think they failed. we did not fail. we have to take right method. that is the only difference. any mistake or arrogance find in me please kindly forgive me. @Jayaraman Ji
Hi, well don't quit just take a break and analyse your trades.
Coming straight to point and keeping philosophy, psychology and spirituality out of discussion. Here is what you need to do.

1) System - You need to know whether your system (EW I guess) is a profitable system when you test it historically across markets. So backtesting is very important. If you cannot test historically then take a look at your trading journal and see the results. There is immense information in your journal. When you analyse that information , it will become "knowledge".

2) Discipline - It is possible that you may be good at analysis but end up with bad results. Either you are not following your stops(keep stops in system, not in mind) or you are taking a very large position relative to your capital (don't risk more than 1% of capital in one trade). Here is the position sizing calculator link.

http://financeandtradingmadeeasy.blogspot.in/2012/06/position-size-calculator-forex.html

3) As DR ji said, "cut your losses short but let your profits run". Mostly, people tend to do the opposite. Every trader must have heard this market maxim but they never thought over it in practical terms.

Your trading results should be like this. -7,-15,40,-15,-7,100,60,-21,20,-27.
Sorting them low to high will look like. -27,-21,-15,-15,-7,-7,20,40,60,100.
Notice you make 6 losing trades and 4 wining trades, bad system?

In trading the results are never linear. It goes up and down in "waves" as well.

I wish you all the best :)

Parimal said...

Dear Mr. Jayaraman
you just wont give up. i have faced the same situation as you are going through. but many nice friends at JN have helped me to regain confidence. and i am sure you will also 'turn around'. remember 'Be acutely aware that markets are technically the strongest after a severe decline and technically the weakest after a sharp rise'-Elliott Wave Explained by R.C.Beckman pg.218, what does this mean? it speaks of your mind actually. if you are feeling low, you have a greater chance to rise. this is a corollary, nature's law. i am confident that you will rise up just like a market rises from the bottom. yes, to lose money in market is a painful thing. however, such a situation comes in every traders life. do you know that the best traders are those who are successful only in 60% of the trades maximum. i know we will not miss you for long, since all love you very much. so, see you soon.
DRji's suggestions are practical and should be followed diligently by me as well.

Ilango Sir, this story of Faith reminds me of the Movie-Guide, where the people in a small village woship the hero[Late Dev Anand] like a God. Its a drought ridden village and 1 day the villagers pursue the hero to undertake a fast so that it rains. Inspite of the hero's convincing them that he is no God and just an ordinary person like them they don't believe it and ultimately he sits on his fast. And after some days of his fast it really starts raining. But then nobody in this market quit because greed of more. I think it is anybody's own KARMA which makes him or breakes him. So I request you to introspect yourself with spiritual angle. I always respect and admire Ilango Sir because of his human factor attached to his analysis. There are very few persons who take ownership of their deeds and try to rectify the mistakes. My Dear Mr. Jayaraman
i have a humble observation about your choice of product. you might have traded in options. option trading does not suite everybody. its major drawback is time decay which erodes almost all profit that you may make. moreover, options are good only when market makes sharp and quick moves or it remains range bound for a long time. so DRji is correct suggesting to stay away from options. and he has also given the best suggestion- to trade only JNSAR.
one more thing: we tend to think that market works against me when a trade goes wrong. in fact market has nothing personal against you or me.
we all love you very much. so if not confident, it is wise to step back.
all the best to you.

Yesterday I read all articles of our seniours giving very valuable suggestions. I also got enlightned from them.
What I impressed about you that you are the most humble person on this earth.everbody is ready to take credit for the good thing but mostly nobody is ready to accept defeat.
Above all we all are human beings and this is but natural. agree!
Sir, I can not give you suggestions apart from what my seniours have written.
only can say,
वो जानेवाले हो सखे तो लौट के आना

many many regards!

Dear Jayaraman Dinooo has said everything that needs to be said so aptly. Nothing more can be added to it.

It requires courage to accept failure and that too in a public blog. U have already made your first win.

I have emailed u. Please check it and see if it is worthwhile. Thx.

One of my most valuable experience in my life I am going to tell you now.
I am working for the reliance since 1987. I am in Patalganga unit from the commissioning period so
i have seen great personality shree Dhirubhai Ambani closely.
After the commissioning , Patalganga was on the full swing and our chairman came to plant visit with the our top executives and bosses.
Everybody went ahead with bouquets and started praising their deeeds. We have produced this many tons... and we have saved this many .........rupees. That divine figure was calmly listening and his eyes were steady looking ahead.there were no emotions , nothing unusual.
After listening everybodys self praise he murmured something in a ear to his next top executive.
top executive said, Sir wants to know that How many trips (shutdowns) you did in a year?
everybody stood still, nobody was ready to answer. Immediatly he drove away.
that question has great impact on my mind How many wrongs you did in life rather than success.
I asked same question to my daughter during her academic years By how many marks you failed?
she is now Doctor in the premier institute
that is KEM Hospital.
I am not taking much space, Wrong is very impotant rather than Success. Defeat has more value than Win, only we have to accept it.
regards!

Hi all JN Members:

I am on of the many silent members and admirers of this blog. I have been following this blog for last couple of years (after coming here through VFMdirect)

I read through various comments today and figured out that people are shying away from using options.

My trading career has gone through ups-and-downs very similar to Jayraman. I lost lots of money trading options. However, i was not willing to leave options because was convinced that options offered some advantages especially for people wanting to trade with their day jobs.

At a crucial juncture in my trading career, i moved to writing options instead of buying options. This was a turning point in my trading performance. I am happy to state that now-a-days, i use JNSAR for writing options and it gives me consistent return of around 5-6% per month on my trading capital. I have decent sized trading capital and i am fine with this kind of return.

Just wanted to say that Do not close your mind to Options. Its a trading product that (if mastered well) can actually help a trader to stress free & steady returns.

My sincere regards to Illango for providing this wonderful platform to all.

Dear Jayaraman Sir,

I was also in the same position as you today. Dear Mynac, SAN, PS, RM sir, Moh, Sanjay Bhai know my losses. I have great faith & Respect for Ilango sir, Kumar Sir,DR sir so i never shared my losses to them.

I did exactly the same mistakes as you mentioned yesterday.

To recover first i came out of distractions of thinking on my own. I stopped updating the OI, then i stopped updating the daily charts. I took a break from trading.

Now without any thoughts/calculations i just started to follow the Master, Mynac, DR sir, Kumar Sir and ofcourse Sujatha.

To be honest i am able to make profit with very little amount. I am sharing my daily trades to a well wisher to gain confidence.

Ultimately it is upto every individual's decision.

Take a break. Think it over. Watch the market as you read your newspaper or magazine for some time. I believe for sure that you will be able to come back and make money.

I know and personally experienced that giving advice and directions is easy, but implementing it is very tough especially in F&O.

It is great fortunate for me/all to have Ilango sir and Just Nifty. It is a Very Big JN family.

I am sure that will see you soon at JN Family.

With Best Wishes,
Prabakar

Dear Jayaraman Sir,

Looks like you are very senior to me, I could not read the Blog since 2 days due to my Work Schedule. I have seen your Trade plans every day at the end of the day. Interesting.
I should say that though I am in the Market for many years, but not an active Trader, Combining my Working atmosphere with Blind trading, I have lost huge money, it was then I found this Blog & slowly regaining my lost confidence & adopting a new simple Trading method, though still not started active Trading, I am hopeful & confident of being successful by the way our beloved Ilango Sir's noble guidance, DR's timely sensible advice, Kumar Sir's added analytical boost, Mynac's intelligent analysis, JayShriram's EW, Sujatha's humourous pickle, Gauresh's daily dose(Quote), sanjay Jaiswal's OI analysis & last but not least San's wonderful analysis & many more skilled friends. I thank all their continual guidance & as well other skilled warriors whom I may have missed.
I believe you will strongly come back as I am feeling now....
It is a long way to go in our short span of life but when we have a beautiful platform as we are now in JN, it makes accomplished & possible.
"Nifty ko pakadna namunkin nahin, lekin aasan hain" with JN.

Thank you Ilango Sir.

Dear Jayaraman,

You just decided and put message to take break from trading and got so many advices from so many JN mates. It is a rain of advices from every corner. You are in fact lucky dear that you get this much boost up. You have just become an example to other also. All including you have got a chance to learn a lot from these advices.

I request you to note down all these advices in black and white in a diary and keep practice to go through them frequently during your break period. It will really help you in the long run in building your self confidence and determination power. A path of positivity will be created in the ground of your mind with constant hammering of these advices and a day will come when you will be automatically attached with them with execution. It is just a like walking on grass ground on the same route again and again creates a path automatically. And after the creation of this path, you need not wander hither and thither in search of any other.

You will definitely come out with utmost discipline, determination and dedication……

When opportunity knocks, always answer the door with faith and self confidence. Because you do not know its real form….!!!

Dear, catch this opportunity with full faith and confidence…..and try to identify its real form....

It is not surprising that this blog has only quality people and each one of them are polished by lango sir without any any material gain that too in this world which is out right materialistic.

I only pray to Almighty to wish Ilango Sir long life with Good health, Happiness and Prosperity.
In fact if start putting my understanding about Ilango Sir self less service I will be doing it at least for couple of hours. Hence I am stopping it here.

At the same time I pray to Almighty to give us chance to meet him collectively and listen to him about life and its intricacies for few hours
so that people like me who are self made get polished the rough side of personality.

Thank you Ilango Sir once again for all the help you have been giving to all the people without any hesitation.

Gauresh ji,

When I posted my decision it was to announce that I failed to trade as per my plan. The reason for failure is "Trader Emotional Syndrome' (TES). I owe to JN family an explanation for my Break. But the raining of response made me to think deeper with more responsibility.

As you suggested I am in the process of tabulating all the inputs given by them so that I use them to treat my TES.

I am certain to come back with my winnings.
