Dhanteras (Hindi: धनतेरस ,Marathi : Dhantrayodashi) is the first day of the five-day Diwali Festival as celebrated in parts of north India. The festival, also known as "Dhantrayodashi" or "Dhanvantari Triodasi", falls on the auspicious thirteenth lunar day of Krishna paksha (dark fortnight) in the Hindu calendar month of Kartik (October/November).[1]
The Dhan in Dhanteras means wealth. On Dhanteras, the "Owl" form of Goddess Laxmi is worshiped to provide prosperity and well being. Dhanteras holds special significance for the business community due to the customary purchases of precious metals on this day
On Dhanteras Hindus consider it auspicious to purchase gold or silver articles or at least one or two new utensils. It is believed that new “Dhan” or some form of precious metal is a sign of good luck. "Laxmi Puja" is performed in the evenings when tiny Diyas of clay are lit to drive away the shadows of evil spirits. "Bhajans", devotional songs in praise of Goddess Laxmi, are also sung.

Dhan needs to come to us today. Recover all your dues from others.Shopkeepers do not spend but take in your money.
Better,
buy utensils a day earlier and perform Pooja today. Dhan needs to be circulated to grow. Locked bullion decays. - prefer an FD, do Pooja of it, as at least it grows in value for sure.

As I understand, reference to dhana trayodashi is found
in shastras as ancient as 200 BC. :) It depends on what
timeline u wish to give the term "modern."
As far as marketing is concerned it will always remain
a part of human life as long as human beings will
consume and consumption starts right from the womb and
ends in the cemetry. :)

really and one takes what appeals to one and hopes one
